At JLA, we are committed to creating social value, so we are always looking to find ways to support individuals and businesses in our local communities. As part of this commitment, we are proud to use our apprenticeship levy to help fund essential training for the care sector.
This year, we gifted £49,500 of our apprenticeship levy for training and development at Berkley Care – a top UK employer that values homegrown talent and focuses on developing and promoting individuals from within.
Through our partnership with the training provider Lifetime, our levy transfer is funding the following apprenticeships at Berkley:
• 3 x Adult Care Worker Level 2
• 2 x Lead Adult Care Worker Level 3
• 1 x Commis Chef Level 2
• 1 x Personal Trainer Level 3
• 2 x Leader in Adult Care Level 5
• 1 x Hospitality Manager Level 4
Berkley operates 12 luxury care homes across the country. Their passionate and dedicated team has created a hotel-like atmosphere for their residents and visitors, with entertainment, on-site restaurants, bars, hair salons, and private dining areas for family gatherings. With our extra support, Berkley will continue to invest in their people and maintain their high standards of care in the future.
To celebrate our investment, members of the JLA team were invited to Berkley’s home, Leycester House in Warwickshire, where we had the opportunity to meet residents and talk with staff members currently undergoing training.
The level of commitment the staff to their residents, their training and the opportunities ahead is truly inspiring. One apprentice even shared her dream of managing her own care home one day.
"Apprenticeship opportunities have such a positive impact, not only on the individual but also on high quality care in the sector. This funding has enabled us to upskill many more team members than we would have been able to without the support."
Emma Aldred, Senior Regional Care Trainer at Berkley
We look forward to following the journey of these apprentices over the next couple of years and are proud to be able to contribute to the communities in which we serve.
