Important changes when ordering JLA Detergents from 1st October 2023
Due to changes in legislation, from 1 October the way in which we sell certain types of detergents is changing. This change impacts all suppliers of detergents and chemicals which can be potentially harmful if misused or abused.
Under the new legislation, the following detergents are now considered “reportable” under the Poisons Act 1972:
- 7516DRM001 Sodium Hypochlorite 14/15% (25L)
- 7635BOT002 JLA Ultra Alkali Wash Booster (10L)
- 7635DRM012 JLA Clean Wash Booster (20L)
- 8276COB001 JLA Ultra Bedpan Detergent (2X5L)
- 8274BOT001 JLA Ultra Dishwasher Liquid (10L)
- 8274COB001 JLA Ultra Dishwasher Liquid (2X5L)
- 8274DRM001 JLA Ultra Dishwasher Liquid (20L)
This means that if there is any significant disappearance or theft of any of these products whilst they are in your possession or under your control, you must report that event to your local police within 24 hours using 101 (or 999 in an emergency).
We will remind you of this obligation whenever you or someone from your organisation purchases these items.
In addition, the following detergents are now considered “regulated” under the Poisons Act 1972:
- 6969BOT001 JLA Ultra Peroxide Destainer (10L)
- 6969DRM003 JLA Ultra Peroxide Destainer (20L)
- 6969DRM004 JLA Ultra Peroxide Destainer (200L)
You will only be able to purchase regulated products online, and anyone purchasing these products in your organisation will be required to provide the following information:
- Your organisation’s name and address
- If you are not a sole trader, the name of the individual who is authorised on behalf of your organisation to acquire the regulated product
- A form of ID for the authorised individual
- A statement regarding the nature of your business
- Your VAT number, if applicable
If you are a repeat purchaser, we will need to renew this information every 18 months.
You will also be required to report any significant disappearances or thefts of these products, in the same manner as indicated above.
We are working hard to ensure that this is quick and most importantly private and secure. If you or your organisation do not wish to do this, please call our knowledgeable team who will be happy to recommend alternative products that meet your needs.
All other products can be purchased as normal either through our sales team or online via the myJLA portal.
