commercial combi oven

A commercial combi oven is a worthwhile investment in any commercial kitchen. As well as being a chef’s best friend, an appliance like this can also save your business precious time and money. Here, we’ll look at why you should invest in a combi oven and the benefits it provides.

What is a combi oven?

So, we’ve covered what a combi oven is before. But, before we tell you why a commercial combi oven is such a great investment, let’s quickly recap.

A combi oven is a three-in-one oven that allows you to cook with steam, hot air (convection) or a combination of both. This means it can replace both a steamer and a convection oven.

Why get a combi oven?

Combi ovens are popular in commercial kitchens because they allow you to steam cook, convection cook and combination cook. This means that, in a single appliance, you can cook meat, fish, pasta, vegetables, breads, pies and pastries. Overall, this means that you can cook with a lot more flexibility.

Plus, this also means that you can consolidate the cooking equipment you need and add some extra versatility to your kitchen. Whether you want to cook the same dish for large numbers or need the flexibility to serve small portions of different meal types at the same time, a combi oven puts you in complete control.

Why invest in a combi oven?

Due to the fact that commercial combi ovens can replace steamers and convection ovens, they’re a great investment. After all, they can save you time, space and money.

On top of this, the right combi oven will complement your existing menu and transform the workings of your kitchen by adding ‘multi-function’ versatility to every service or mealtime. This appliance can support your chef and make their job easier, all while consistently providing delicious meals to customers.

Which combi oven is right for me?

Here at JLA, we understand that different kitchens have different requirements. That’s why we offer two different sizes of combi oven.

Our available options include the standard (inteli-cook) and space-saving (inteli-compact) – each available with a range of exclusive, forward-thinking MKN-designed features built in.

If you’d like more advice or a price for a commercial combi oven, then get in touch with our experts today. No matter what you need, we’ll take care of it.

Pub catering

All pubs, but particularly those that serve food or provide accommodation, require a range of equipment and appliances. From commercial kitchen equipment to bar essentials and fire safety equipment, here’s all the pub commercial equipment you require.

Commercial kitchen equipment

Gastro pubs are hugely popular. If your pub is going to include a small commercial kitchen, you should consider purchasing all of the following pieces of catering equipment:

  • Commercial ovens
  • Grills or griddles
  • Fryers
  • Hobs
  • Fridges
  • Freezers
  • Commercial dishwashers
  • Glasswashers

Commercial bar equipment

As part of your commercial pub setup, you’ll also require the following pieces of equipment behind the bar:

  • Drink and cocktail accessories
  • Bar refrigeration equipment
  • Draft beer dispensers
  • Under bar sinks

  • Serving and drip trays
  • Signage
  • Glass storage and caddies
  • Ice crushers, juicers and bar blenders
  • Chopping boards for garnishes
  • Cocktail shakers
  • Bottle openers, corkscrews and bottle top catchers

Cooling and heating

Attracting customers to your pub is one thing but keeping them on the premises is another. To keep them as comfortable as possible, you must make sure you have the right cooling and heating solutions in place.

From commercial heating to air conditioning and cooling, you need to decide which solutions you require. If you’re unsure, our experts can carry out a complete assessment of your building, including gas safety checks and air conditioning leak testing. We can also install your future-proofed commercial heating and air conditioning systems and maintain your system over time.

Finally, you also need to consider the safety of your customers. This means you must conduct the proper risk assessments and ensure that the proper fire safety features are installed. These include:

  • Fire doors

There’s an expected growth boom in commercial laundry, here’s why

In the past few years, we’ve seen continuous and sustained growth in the commercial laundry market. Now, experts are suggesting that we’ll see a commercial laundry growth boom in the next few years.

The current state of the commercial laundry market

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, estimates suggested that the commercial laundry market was valued at just over $1bn. However, things move quickly, and estimates now suggest that the value of the market could reach $1.83bn by 2028.

North America remains the largest market for commercial laundry equipment, followed by Asia Pacific and then Europe.

Commercial laundry growth in North America

In the coming years, it’s expected that North America will capture the majority of the commercial laundry growth boom. This is due to the presence of several healthcare institutions in nations like the United States which fuel the need for various laundry equipment. According to a recent survey, there are 6,146 hospitals in the United States, with 924,107 beds.

Commercial laundry growth in the Asia Pacific

The Asia Pacific market is predicted to expand at a quicker rate due to the growing number of hotels and restaurants in Japan, India and Australia. These establishments further drive the need for laundry cleaning goods.

Similarly, the expanding spa and salon sector is propelling the demand for commercial laundry equipment. Surveys show that Asia has both the most spas (48,679) and the largest spa market ($26.5 billion).

Commercial laundry growth in Europe

Finally, due to rising investment in hotel operations in Germany, the UK and Spain, the European hospitality and tourism sectors are both expanding at a remarkable rate. This will likely lead to an increased demand for commercial laundry and dry-cleaning services.

Let JLA help you set up your commercial laundry

If you’re setting up a commercial laundry, then it’s vital that you purchase the correct equipment. Here at JLA, we’re experts in the market. Commercial Ironer

If finishing and flatwork challenges are leaving your staff out of steam, then you need to invest in the right commercial and industrial irons. In this commercial iron buying guide, we’ve outlined the best commercial ironing tables and irons for your business. This way, you can make an informed choice about which solution is best for you.

Commercial and industrial irons

Designed with continual use in mind, our commercial and industrial irons will help your business to process in-house laundry quickly and efficiently.

Commercial and industrial irons come in a range of styles and options, including steam, rotary and roller irons. Each of these suits a different purpose and need.

For example, the JLA 1623 iron has been designed to make flatwork a breeze. Designed to process up to 30 items sized between 1.4 to 2.1m every hour, it offers a professional finish for the items that matter the most, such as sheets and table linens.

By contrast, the JLA 990 iron is capable of processing up to 15kg of dry linen per hour. This option is particularly good for hotels, as it’s ideal for items like pillowcases and napkins.

If your laundry room has plenty of space, then you may find that the JLA S/MS2 steam iron is a better option. Designed to work alongside the S/AR ironing table, it gives flatwork a professional finish. A built-in vacuum holds fabrics to the table to provide sharper creases and better finishing.

However, if you’re operating a hotel, guesthouse, spa, care home or any business where linen needs to be finished to a high standard, then you may find that commercial rotary irons are better suited to the job.

Commercial ironing tables

When it comes to onsite laundry finishing, investing in commercial ironing tables is a must. Our commercial ‘plug and play’ boards are built to the highest specification and can be used immediately.

For example, the JLA S/AR ironing table offers convenience and quality for laundry rooms that need to quickly process flatwork, but don’t want to rely on a larger commercial ironer. It also offers a built-in vacuum for sharper creases and a heated board for moisture reduction.

Unsure which of our commercial ironing tables or irons is best for your needs? Get in touch with our laundry experts today. We’d love to help you find the perfect match.

Commercial freezer

In order to provide your customers with the freshest food, your business needs to purchase specialist commercial fridges and freezers.

Here at JLA, our commercial fridges and freezers have been designed with input from top chefs. Due to this, you can ensure that the most valuable features to you are within reach.

But, which of our commercial fridges and freezers is right for your business? In this commercial fridge and freezer buying guide, we reveal all.

Commercial fridge buying guide: Which option is right for me?

Commercial fridges come in a number of different shapes and sizes. For example, our range of commercial fridges includes both countertop and upright models, with capacities ranging from 140 litres to 1,300 litres.

Generally speaking, the right fridge for your needs will depend on two factors: the layout of your kitchen and the amount of fresh food you need to store.

Our countertop models are great space-saving solutions in kitchens with small floorplans. Although they’re smaller than freestanding options, they still have capacities that range between 140 litres and 545 litres. Plus, because they double up as work surfaces, they provide a dual purpose.

Meanwhile, our upright fridges are better suited to kitchens that need to store large quantities of food. Some of these fridges have a capacity of 1,300 litres. This means they’re perfect for busy kitchens that need vast amounts of stock storage.

Commercial freezer buying guide: Which option is right for me?

Similarly, a specialist commercial freezer is vital in any commercial setting. This is because these freezers are designed to operate efficiently in environments with ambient temperatures of up to 43°C.

Like with commercial fridges, there are many different styles of commercial freezer available. For example, our range of commercial freezers includes upright, under counter and chest options.

Again, the right option for you will depend on the space you have available and the amount of frozen food you need to store. While a small under counter freezer such as the Active Freeze 140 Freezer will work well in a small café that only stores frozen chips or chicken nuggets, a much larger upright option like the Active Freeze 1300 Freezer will be better suited to a busy restaurant setting.

Generally speaking, the design of your commercial freezer should match the design of your commercial fridge. By employing this tactic, you can usually maximise the space you have available.

Still unsure which of our commercial fridges and freezers is right for you? Talk to our catering experts today. Whatever you need, we’ll take care of it.

A reliable boiler is key to your business

Boilers are an essential piece of equipment for any organisation. Nobody wants to be left without heating or hot water, and there are some businesses where boilers are critical to their operation.

Hotels, care homes, education providers and are prime examples of this. If a hotel is without hot water it will have to refund customers. If a school gets too cold then the children will have to be sent home, causing disruption for pupils and parents. Similarly, care homes need to remain at a steady minimum temperature to meet CQC regulations and make sure residents are not left feeling cold or uncomfortable.

Unlike residential properties, care homes will likely keep their heating on all day and even throughout the night. That’s why it’s so important that care facilities have an appropriate, reliable boiler.

Other businesses might use boilers as part of their product generation, for example in food production or manufacturing. In these cases, a boiler breakdown can lead to significant downtime which can be costly and let down customers.

How do I know which boiler is right for my business?

Choosing the right boiler option for your business can be challenging. There’s a host of factors to consider such as cost, size, and output requirements. But it’s a decision you really want to get right the first time. If an incorrect boiler is selected, it could greatly shorten the lifespan of the newly installed equipment.

Working with an expert from JLA can help you find the right boiler for your setting. Our team can advise on the different types of boilers and their features to make sure you get the right fit for you.

If the boiler is needed for production processes, such as generating heat for a large mechanical plant, you’ll need one that is capable of reaching higher temperatures. However, if you’re just using the boiler for heating your business environment, the temperature requirement could be much lower. If hot water is your priority, we’ll advise you on whether direct or indirect is best for your setting.

JLA can also offer advice on the right fuel source for your business’ boiler such as oil, gas LPG or electricity. We would also look at renewable technologies such as heat pumps or solar thermal, to see if they provide a potential fit for your business.

If your boiler is going to be used constantly or for extended periods, we’ll help you decide whether you’re better off with a commercial-grade boiler instead of one designed for a domestic application. We can also help you weigh up the initial costs of the equipment vs how many repairs you might have to pay for if it wasn’t fit for purpose.

At JLA, we’ll work with you to make sure you get the perfect boiler for your business. Our experts will help you figure out exactly what you need and how it fits into your budget.

How often should I get my boiler serviced?

There are many different types of legislation around water hygiene and boiler safety. Boiler manufacturers recommend getting your boiler serviced every 12 months, and in a commercial building employing staff, this is also a legal requirement. This annual inspection is also not just for boilers, but for the whole gas installation within the building.

Servicing a boiler must be done by a registered gas safety engineer. At JLA, we have experts who are qualified to carry out these checks, making sure your staff, guests, residents, pupils or visitors are not put at risk. We will also take care of the legal requirements, to minimise the risk of potential penalties.

JLA will be there for you throughout the whole process. From design, advice and consultation, to providing and installing the equipment, we’ll take care of the planning for you. We can also make sure all your compliance obligations are fulfilled, taking another task off your plate. We can also offer maintenance and servicing options to make sure your boiler isn’t at risk of breaking down.

When is the best time to start thinking about heating solutions?

The best time is right now! Make sure your boiler and gas appliance checks are up to date, making sure they’re fully functioning in time for winter. Get in touch with us today and we’ll begin design and planning consultations with you. In these consultations we can discuss any existing issues, allowing us to tailor the best solution for your business before we replace your current equipment. This process can take some time so it’s really important that you get things sorted as soon as possible.
